In the Fall/Winter season, I think of pumpkin spice, cool weather, falling leaves and most importantly, pulling out my favorite fall and winter outfits! I have always loved a great leather pant and I probably have owned quite a few styles over the years. Fall is the perfect time to pull them out, but this year I definitely have a new alternative favorite – vegan leather.
Man-made leather has been called many names through the years: faux leather, pleather, synthetic leather and of course vegan leather.
Vegan leather as an alternative to leather has its benefits. It’s less expensive than genuine leather, it’s more readily available and it’s cruelty-free. Vegan leather, however, can also have its drawbacks. It can easily tear and if a poor quality material is used, there is a possibility the material can peel or have a synthetic odor.
That being said, I have found some great options with a broad range in prices from high to low. Since I am sensitive to smells I made sure that my choices were odor-free. My favorite vegan leather pant this season is the Nanushka Kisa trouser pant. It is a soft supple faux leather with a built-in belt and gold buckle. Nanushka is known for its use of high-end vegan leathers in a variety of styles. It was a hit with many fashion influencers this season and soon became a sold-out style. As much as I love this pant, it comes with a hefty price tag of $495.
I sought out to find an alternative option that was more affordable and stumbled across a fabulous style at Zara.com. This trouser is cute, flattering and looks like an expensive pair of leather pants, but at a great price of $69.90. Zara has a variety of other styles but this one worked best for me.
For a trendier style I found a great option at Target from their WhoWhatWear collection. It’s a high waist paper bag style and is offered in black or rust. It tends to wrinkle a bit but at $34.99 it serves the purpose for the season. It looks great with the puff sleeve vegan leather top to match and a pair of black booties.
Finally, if loose fits are not your thing, I found my new obsession in the Bagatelle legging. It’s offered in many colors and with a soft stretch pull on style, the comfort is amazing. Just be sure to not wear these on a hot day or you may feel like they have permanently attached to your body! Bloomingdales.com currently offers this style in black for $89.
